May I Have A Sip Of Your Salt Lick?
Eating healthy can be a dangerous thing, especially when you just assume that what you are having is a healthy item. I don’t mind admitting that I’m a soda junkie, Mountain Dew especially. I have a few of them a week, probably my biggest vice (aside from pizza, but that is for another day). So today I decided to be a good boy and opted for a more healthy alternative, some tomato juice.
It wasn’t until I was half through the can that I decided to turn it around and take a peek at the nutritional facts. I remembered that some drinks like V8 had high sodium, so it wouldn’t have surprised me to see a 20% sodium content on this thing. So I was horrified when I saw this single can weighing in at a hefty 41% sodium content. 980mg of sodium!
I mean it’s no wonder people can get into blood pressure trouble, especially when you get these under the radar food products. How many people would actually suspect this much sodium would be in a can of tomato juice? Not many, I’d imagine. This is pretty much like shooting yourself in the heart with a bullet made of salt.
Scary stuff.
Just goes to show that you really have to know what you are eating.
